CLEVELAND -- Kamiya Dendy (Anderson, S.C./Pendleton) and
Precious Umukoro (Villarreal, Spain) of the Northern Illinois University women's track and field team earned Second Team All-MAC recognition as a result of their performances at last weekend's Mid-American Conference Indoor Track and Field Championships. Dendy claimed second place in the high jump while Umukoro was second in the long jump.
Umukoro, who was also named the MAC Women's Indoor Freshman Field Performer of the Year, earned second in the long jump with a season-best leap of 6.00 meters (19-08.25), which ranks as the third-best indoor mark in program history. Umukoro is just the second Indoor All-MAC performer for NIU in the long jump, the first since
Jazmyn Smith in 2022 who also earned second team honors.
Dendy cleared the bar in the high jump at 1.76 meters (5-09.25), just one one-hundredth of a meter shy of her season-high, to earn a second-place finish at last weekend's championship. Her season-best mark of 1.77 meters is tied for the second-best indoor performance in NIU program history. The Huskies have had the MAC's Second Team All-Conference honoree in the high jump for two consecutive years as
Arianna Calloway (Blue Springs, Mo./Blue Springs) claimed the recognition in 2024.
NIU will begin the outdoor season next weekend, March 14-15, in Myrtle Beach, S.C. at the Myrtle Beach College Challenge.
