Women's Golf | September 4
DeKALB, Ill.—Opening the 2025-26 season, the Northern Illinois University women's golf team heads to the Redbird Invitational, September 7-8 in Normal, Illinois. Action will take place at the Weibring Golf Course.
Live scoring will be provided by on Clipped, powered by Scoreboard. The 54-hole tournament starts at 8:30 a.m. on both days with a shotgun start.
Head coach
Kim Kester returns five athletes from last season, including four who competed in the MAC Championship.
A Look at the Huskies
Caroline Kent (Frisco, Tex./University Prep) saw action in all 12 tournaments last season, with a best finish of T-10 at the BGSU Invite. Kent averaged 77.4 strokes per round with a season-low of 70.
Alexa Ouellet (Toronto, Ontario, Canada/De La Salle College) led the team in six tournaments last season as she made her debut for the Huskies. Ouellet led the team in strokes per round (75.6) while earning a third-place finish at the BGSU Invite.
Mia Raines (Galena, Ohio/Olentangy Berlin) is the only returning Huskie to have played in all tournaments last season. Raines carded 77.6 strokes per round with a season-best finish of an eighth-place tie at the MAC Championships.
Dakota Tallent (Las Vegas, NV/Bishop Gorman) saw action in 11 tournaments last season, averaging 77.5 strokes per round. Tallent's best finish of the season came at the Diane Thomason (Iowa) Invitational, finishing in the top-20. Tallent led the team in the clubhouse three times last season.
Also returning for the Huskies is
Eva Nijenhuis (Heiloo, Netherlands/OSG Willem Blaeu). Nijenhuis had an average strokes per round of 79 with a season-low of 65.
Emile Chile (Flower Mound, Tex./Flower Mound) is the lone newcomer to the Huskies this season. Chile broke several records for Flower Mound High School and made several regional and state appearances.
Upcoming This Fall
Following the Huskies season opener at Illinois State, the NIU women's golf team will compete in three other tournaments this fall.
The Huskies will travel to Iowa City and Finkbine Golf Course for the Diane Thomason Invitational, September 29-30 before heading south to the Jim West Challenge on October 19-20. After competition in Texas, the Huskies head to White Sands Bahamas for the White Sands tournament, October 24-26 to conclude fall action.
2024-25 Postseason Honors
Kent, Raines, and Ouellet, along with former Huskie
Emma Thorman, earned WGCA All-American Scholar honors for their performance in the classroom and on the course.
Kent was named an CSC Academic All-District honoree, alongside Thorman, representing the women's golf program. Kent earned the honor for a second straight year.
