NIU Men’s Basketball Adds Trevor Polite

DEKALB, Ill. – Northern Illinois University men's basketball head coach Matt Majkrzak announced the signing of Trevor Polite (Mequon, Wis./Homestead) to join the Huskies for the 2026-27 season. Polite is the sixth addition to the NIU men's basketball roster this spring, with more additions to be announced.

"Trevor is one of the smartest players I have coached," said Majkrzak. "He's an elite on-ball defender, a great rebounder, and an excellent passer. He's a 6-foot-6 wing that can guard and play multiple positions with his vast skillset and competitive nature. On top of all his basketball tools, he's a sensational leader and makes winning plays after winning plays. We are so lucky that we get to keep coaching Trevor at NIU".

Polite started 15 games as a true freshman for Northern Michigan this past season. He shot 59 percent from the field, 45.5 percent from three and 78.6 percent from the free-throw line while averaging 3.7 points, 3.0 rebounds and 1.8 assists per game. The 6-foot-6 Polite scored over 1,100 points in high school while helping Homestead High School to three regional championships and two conference titles.
