DEKALB, Ill. – Precious Umukoro (Villarreal, Spain) of the Northern Illinois University women's track and field team will participate in the triple jump at NCAA West First Round in Fayetteville, Ark., on Saturday, May 30.
Umukoro is seeded 36th in the first round, having recorded a best mark this season of 12.85 meters (42-02.00) last weekend at the Mid-American Conference Championships, finishing third. That leap also ranks as the third-best in NIU program history.
In addition to her third-place finish at the MAC Outdoor Championships, Umukoro also claimed second at Illinois State's Joyce Morton-Kife Invitational and fourth at Baylor's Michael Johnson Invitational earlier this spring.
Umukoro will be making her first career appearance at the NCAA First Round as she becomes the fourth Huskie all-time to participate in the triple jump, joining Jehvania Whyte (2018, '19), Diamond Riley (2019, '22, '23) and Katrina Small (2023). Whyte advanced to the NCAA Championships in both 2018 and 2019, earning All-America honors in 2018 with a seventh-place finish.
The triple jump competition at the NCAA West First Round is scheduled to take place at 6 p.m. on Saturday, May 30.
