Bailey Sisters Lead Northern Illinois Women's Golf Into Fifth After Day One Of Illini Classic

URBANA, IL -- Finally, a complete-team effort that head coach Pam Tyska was looking for. After searching for solid scoring efforts from her No. 3 and No. 4 performers, Tyska and the Northern Illinois University women’s golf team had it come together on Friday, as the Huskies stand fifth after the opening day of action at the Illini Spring Classic in Urbana, IL.

Just five shots removed from the top five, NIU leads Mid-American Conference foe Ball State by six shots heading into Saturday’s final round.

Playing just 30 miles from their hometown of Decatur, IL, Lisa and Jackie Bailey led the Huskies with impressive rounds of 76 and 78 respectively. The top round of her young career, Lisa Bailey toured the Stone Creek Golf Course in 4-over-par fashion to stand in a tie for 13th place and just one shot out of sixth. Here sister, Jackie, was also impressive on Friday, shooting a 6-over-par 78 to rank among the tournament’s top 20 individuals heading into Saturday’s finale.
