NOBLESVILLE, Ind. -- Junior Lena Gautier (La Celle Saint Cloud, France/Creteil) of the Northern Illinois University women’s golf team posted a top-five finish as the Huskies concluded play on Tuesday in the MAC Preview at Purgatory Golf Club. Gautier carded a final round 74 to finish in a tie for fifth as the Huskies earned a sixth-place team finish.

“Lena was the bright spot for us in the tournament, she played well,” said NIU head coach Kim Kester. “It was very windy conditions today and as a team this wasn’t a great tournament for us, we look forward to having the opportunity to rebound at Campbell in our final event of the fall.”

Gautier carded a pair of birdies in her final round as she moved up five places from a tie for 10th at the beginning of the final round. The fifth-place finish was the junior’s second top-five of the fall, she also placed fifth at the Diane Thomason Invitational (Sept. 12-13).

Junior Sydney Brickey (Burtchville, Mich./Shattuck-St. Mary's) had the second-best day for the Huskies, carding a final round 76, which included two birdies. Brickey finished in a tie for 24th, just one shot behind freshman Brielle Ward (Frisco, Texas/Wakeland) who posted a three-round total of 231 to tie for 21st.
