DeKALB, IL – Sophomore middle blocker
Jasmine Kemp (DeKalb, Ill./DeKalb) of the Northern Illinois University volleyball team was named the Mid-American Conference West Division Defensive Player of the Week on Monday.
This is Kemp's first career weekly conference honor. Kemp had 13 total blocks in NIU's matches at Eastern Michigan and Central Michigan over the weekend. She opened the weekend by tying a career-high with nine total blocks, including three solo blocks, against Eastern Michigan Friday night. Kemp then added four blocks against the division-leading Chippewas on Saturday. Over the last four matches, Kemp has averaged 1.64 blocks per set.
Kemp is the second Huskie to earn MAC West Defensive Player of the Week honors. Junior libero
Miranda Karlen (Evansville, Wis./Evansville) earned the award last week after averaging 5.50 digs per set in wins over Kent State and Ohio.
