CLEVELAND - Jasmine Ly (Windsor, Ontario, Can./Holy Names High School) of the Northern Illinois University women's golf team earned her first Mid-American Conference Women's Golfer of the Week award of the season, the conference announced Thursday.
Ly paced NIU to a 10
th place showing at last weekend's Clover Cup in Mesa, Ariz. as she tied for 20
th as an individual. The junior totaled a three-over 219 final scorecard and racked up 10 birdies to lead NIU.
Additionally, Ly averaged just 4.5 strokes on the par fives, the fourth-best average in the field of 76 student-athletes.
Almost one year ago exactly, Ly last won the weekly award March 24, 2022, after a sixth-place finish at the Pinetree Collegiate tournament.
This is the third time a Huskie has won the plaudit in the 2022-23 campaign as Ly's teammate,Â
Sydney Naro (Toronto, Ontario, Can./Hills International Golf Academy), has earned the honor twice this season.
