DeKALB, Ill.—Northern Illinois University Huskies women's golf head coach Kim Kester has added Emma Thorman for the 2024-25 season.

Thorman comes to NIU as a graduate student after competing at Illinois Wesleyan from 2020 to 2024. Thorman placed third at the NCAA Division III women's golf championship, posting a 72-hole score of 293. Thorman won the CCIW Championships, with a 54-hole score of 218, a career-best.

Thorman is a three-time All-Region member from the WGCA. Thorman has posted career wins four times, including two during the 2022-23 season. Thorman saw action in 97.5 rounds during her time at Illinois Wesleyan and made four appearances at the NCAA Championships (made it as an individual in 2022). A five-time CCIW Golfer of the Week, the Macomb, Illinois native set two records for Illinois Wesleyan,  the 72-hole low, the 54-hole low, the single season and records for rounds of par-or-better, the single season scoring record in 2023-24, and single season birdies in 2022. Thorman set the single-round low score of 68 in 2022 before it fell in 2024.

"We are very excited to add Emma to the NIU Women's Golf program," noted Kester. "She has achieved great success in her time at Illinois Wesleyan, with her most recent success in finishing in third place at the D3 National Championship. She has been a proven leader in her time at Illinois Wesleyan and we look forward in her bringing those same characteristics to the NIU golf program."

Thorman joins Dakota Tallent (Las Vegas, Nevada) and Alex Ouellet (Toronto, Ontario, Canada) as the third member of the 2024-25 signing class.
