Women's Golf | March 15

AUGUSTA, GA—The Northern Illinois University carded 18 birdies as they concluded action at the Valspar Invitational tournament, hosted by Augusta University this afternoon (March 15).

Among the tournament field were SEC programs Missouri and Kentucky, along with Big Ten teams Minnesota and Indiana, all of which finished in the top five.
 
Sophomore Mia Raines (Galena, Ohio/Olentangy Berlin) had two birdies in the first round before adding one in each of the final two rounds. Raines shot two over par on the first day, her lowest round of the tournament as she led NIU on the leaderboard.
 
Dakota Tallent (Las Vegas, Nevada/Bishop Gorman) mirrored her teammate and carded a pair of opening round birdies and a pair on the final rounds. Tallent's best round came in the first round, going four over par.
 
Caroline Kent (Frisco, Texas/iUniversity Prep) went one over par in the final round, the best round by a Huskie with three birdies in that round. Kent carded just one birdie in the opening round for NIU.

Emile Chile (Flower Mound, Texas/Flower Mound) had three birdies in the first two rounds with a pair in the final round. Chile matched with Raines in the first round as both birdied the ninth hole, a par-5, while Chile and Kent birdied the fifth hole in the third round.
 
Alexa Ouellet (Toronto, Ontario, Canada/De La Salle College) rounded out competition for the Huskies and carded a single birdie in the final round.
 
NIU women's golf returns to action on March 23-24 as they compete at the Nashville Invitational, hosted by Lipscomb. Action will take place at Hermitage Golf Course in Nashville, Tennessee.
