Women's Golf | March 24

NASHVILLE, TN—Alexa Ouellet (Toronto, Ontario, Canada/De La Salle College) led the Northern Illinois University women's golf team on the course as they competed at the Nashville Invitational, hosted by Lipscomb University.
 
Ouellet was the only Huskie to card a round under par, shooting 71 in the final round with four birdies in the round. Ouellet had a pair of birdies in her second round, carding a 73.
 
Mia Raines (Galena, Ohio/Olentangy Berlin) had a top-20 finish, her fifth of the season as she joined Ouellet to lead NIU on the course. Raines added four birdies, including two in the opening round.
 
"It's finally coming together. There's always stuff you look back on and want to fix, but it was a fantastic tournament for the girls," noted head coach Kim Kester. "We had more birdie opportunities. It's no easy feat to be out in the 30-degree temperature and 20 mile-per-hour winds so I'm super proud of them."
 
Caroline Kent (Frisco, Texas/iUniversity Prep) added two birdies to the Huskies' total as she posted her third round in the 70s this spring. Dakota Tallent (Las Vegas, Nev./Bishop Gorman) had a birdie in the first and second rounds before rebounding with a 75 in the final round.
 
Emilie Chile (Flower Mound, Texas/Flower Mound) carded four birdies in the second round as she had five total in the tournament.
 
"We know that's the type of play that they are capable of and we've struggled in tournament play," acknowledged Kester. "To see back-to-back rounds under 300, it's coming at the right time. We know they are capable of it and now it's just getting them all on the same page as we head into the final weeks of the season."
 
Ouellet and Raines each birdied the 11th hole in the third round while Raines and Kent birdied the same par-5 in the first round. Kent and Chile carded the eighth hole, a par-5 in the second round of play.
 
The Huskie women's golf team returns to the course on April 12-13 as they compete at the Boilermaker Spring Classic, hosted by Purdue.
