DEKALB, Ill. – Northern Illinois University men's basketball head coach Matt Majkrzak announced the signing Jack Daugherty (Brookfield, Wis./Brookfield Central) to join the Huskie roster for the 2026-27 season. Daugherty becomes the seventh signee for NIU this spring, with more additions to come.
"Jack comes to us from an Illinois State program that had a lot of success," said Majkrzak. "We believe he has a world of talent and untapped potential that we are excited about. He's a prolific three-point shooter that was one of the best shooting big men in the country in 2024-25. However, I watched a lot of him in high school, and we are excited to get him back to playing on all three levels. His defense and toughness are extremely underrated, and he just knows how to win and play the right way."
Daugherty played two seasons at Illinois State, appearing in 62 games, including eight starts. He was named to the Missouri Valley Conference All-Freshman Team in 2025, along with the MVC All-Bench Team, as he averaged 6.3 points and 1.7 rebounds per game. Daugherty made 59 triples that season, the second-most by a freshman in Illinois State history, and shot 47.6 percent from three-point range, best by a freshman in program history and the fifth-best all-time for a Redbird. This past season, Daugherty averaged 3.0 points and 1.5 rebounds per game while helping Illinois State to a 23-win season.
