MUNCIE, Ind. – Sarah Maggio (Aurora, Ill./Metea Valley) claimed seventh in the steeplechase and
Precious Umukoro (Villarreal, Spain) took eighth in the long jump as the Northern Illinois University women's track and field team wrapped up Friday's second day of competition at the Mid-American Conference Outdoor Championships.
In the steeplechase, Maggio recorded a time of 10:33.65, the third-best mark in school history, as she earned a seventh-place finish. Maggio's mark broke her personal-best time by 11 seconds as she becomes the first Huskie to score in the event at the conference championship since 2019.
Umukoro earned a point for the Huskies in the long jump with a mark of 5.82 meters (19-01.25). Her best leap of the competition came on her first attempt of the day.
In the 100-meter dash,
Natasha Chetty (Victoria, Chetty) tied her season-best time, running 11.93 seconds to claim 11th.
Competition will resume on Saturday's final day of action at the MAC Championships beginning at 8 a.m. CT with field events, track events are scheduled to start at 10 a.m. CT.
