DeKALB, Ill. – Northern Illinois University sophomore
Jasmine Ly (Holy Names HS/Windsor, Ontario, Canada) was named the Mid-American Conference Women's Golfer of the Week Thursday after leading NIU to a third-place finish at the season-opening Redbird Invitational.
Ly, coming off a summer in which she qualified for the U.S. Women's Amateur for the second consecutive year, placed seventh at the Redbird Invitational with rounds of 72-76-71 for a 54-hole score of three-over par 219 on the par 72 Weibring Golf Club course.
The sophomore has played well at the course in the past, placing seventh with an identical score to this year at the 2019 event and winning the Redbird Spring Invitational in 2021.
"We know Jasmine is going to perform for us and she did a great job," said head coach
Kim Kester following Monday's final round. "She's played a lot of golf lately and she's played this course before and knows it well so I wasn't surprised with her showing."
After taking third among 16 teams at the Redbird Invitational, NIU is off until Sept. 27-29 when the Huskies compete at the Johnie Imes Invitational, hosted by Missouri at The Club at Old Hawthorne.
