DeKALB, Ill. – Northern Illinois University senior
Jasmine Ly captured her first Mid-American Conference Golfer of the Week honor of 2023-24 after tying the school record for lowest round and earning a top 15 finish at the Johnie Imes Invitational in Columbia, Missouri earlier this week.
Ly's NIU career low round of 67 in the second round at the par 72 The Club at Old Hawthorne course tied former Huskie Isabella Samudio, who shot a 67 on April 14, 2018, at the Lady Boilermaker Invitational, for the lowest round in NIU women's golf history. Ly's scorecard included five birdies and an eagle on the par four 11th, her second hole of the day, with birdies on her final two holes.
The senior from Windsor, Ontario, Canada (Holy Names HS) opened the tournament with an even-par 72 and finished tied for 14th at two-over par 218. She helped the Huskies post a team score of one-under par 287 in Tuesday's second round for NIU's second-lowest round of the season.
The MAC Golfer of the Week honor is the seventh of Ly's career. Her 73.22 scoring average through nine rounds this year leads the Huskies.
After playing three tournaments over the last three weeks, NIU is next in action October 14-16 at the FIU Pat Bradley Invitational in Lakewood Ranch, Florida.
