Called "the ultimate Wishbone fullback" by ex-Northern Illinois coach Jerry Pettibone. Starred with Hall of Fame QB Stacey Robinson in high-powered triple option attack that led major colleges in team rushing (344.6 ypg. in 1990). Named two-time Honorable Mention Football News All-America and Doak Walker National Runningback Award candidate (1990-91). Nominated for NCAA "Today's Top Six Award" (based on athletics, academics, and citizenship in 1991). Selected National Strength & Conditioning Association All-America (1989) and First-Team The Sporting News Frosh All-America (1988). Received votes for Walter Camp All-America unit (1991). Named on school's All-Time Huskie Stadium (1995) and All-Century (1999) squads. Served as team tri-captain (1991), won four letters, produced 10 career 100-yard rushing games, and started 44 consecutive contests (1988-91). Finished No. 33 in NCAA rushing (986 yards) as junior and No. 50 (847 yards) as senior. Led team in rushing (906 yards in 1988 and 847 in 1991), total offense (847 in 1991), and all-purpose yards (861 in 1991). Ran for career-high 195 yards vs. Arkansas State (1991). Set (then) school record vs. the Big Ten Conference with 167 yards vs. Minnesota (1988). Gained 89 yards?including 48-yard first-quarter TD run?vs. No. 10 Nebraska (1990). Bulldozed for 96 yards vs. No. 24 Fresno State (1990). Netted 74 yards in school's first Big Ten triumph vs. Wisconsin (1988). Lost only four fumbles in final 472 carries (1989-91). Two-sport All-Stater at Byron High.
