One of the most prolific scorers in NIU soccer history, Ed Kositzki became just the second All-American in program history when he earned the honor as a senior in 1971. The Huskie record-holder for goals in a career (45) and season (27), he also established the school record of seven goals in a single game, which he did twice – in a span of three games – on October 9, 1971 vs. Valparaiso and on October 23, 1971 vs. Ball State.

Kositzki was more than just a goal scorer as he graduated as the program’s all-time leader with 21 career assists. During his junior season in 1970, the Chicago native scored eight goals and tallied four assists, earning NCAA All-Midwest Honorable Mention recognition.

The following season in 1971, Kositzki’s scoring exploded as he scored 27 goals and notched nine assists while leading NIU to a 7-2-1 record. Those numbers helped Kositzki earn Honorable Mention All-America honors from the National Soccer Coaches Association of America, along with being named an All-Midwest Second Team recipient.
