A three-year starting point guard, Denise Dove is holds the NIU career and single-season assist records. A two-time all-conference honoree, Dove also ranks ninth in Huskie women’s basketball history in career scoring and is the only player in program history to record over 1,000 career points (1,042) and 500 career assists (526).

As a sophomore in 1988-89, Dove averaged 12.1 points per game, starting all 30 contests, as the Huskies posted a 23-7 overall record and finished second in the North Star Conference; Dove was named to the All-North Star Conference Second Team. During her junior season, Dove started all 31 games, averaging 9.0 points, as NIU went 26-5 to win the North Star Conference and advance to the NCAA Tournament for the first time in school history, where they defeated Texas Tech in the first round. 

As a senior in the 1990-91 campaign, Dove scored 9.1 points per contest in 32 starts as the Huskies went 25-10 and advanced to the NWIT, Dove was once again named to the All-North Star Conference Second Team and was also selected to the North Star Conference All-Tournament Team. 

The Huskies won 88 games during Dove’s four-year career at NIU as she helped jump start the most successful era in program history. Dove finished her career ranked seventh in NCAA Division I for career three-point field goals made with 221 and ranked 10th in three-point field goal percentage at 39.4 percent.
