World-class Greco-Roman wrestler in 74 kg. (163 lbs.) class. Qualified for 2008 Beijing Olympics (June 2008). Seven-year Team U.S.A. member (2000-04, 2005-08), six-time U.S. World Team Championships qualifier (2002, 2003, 2005-08), repeat U. S. Nationals champion (2006-08), three-time U. S. Nationals runner-up (1998, 2001-02), and four-time U. S. Olympic Trials participant (1996, 2000, 2004, 2008). Started climb on international mat ladder as U. S. Olympic Festival runner-up (1994). Gained elite status by placing fifth at World Championships, plus winning U. S. World Team Trials, U. S. Nationals, and Dave Schultz Memorial International (2006). Placed third at Pan Am Games (2003). One of only two Northern Illinois wrestlers to qualify for NCAA Championships four consecutive times (1990-93). Produced 81-34-1-12 won-lost-tie-pin career record, compiled 231.50 team points, and earned four letters at 150, 158, and 167 pounds. Placed at NCAA Regional four straight years?third (1990), first (1991), and second (1992-93). Led Huskies in scoring (60.25 points), posted 22-9-0 mark, placed second at NCAA West Regional and fourth at Midlands Tournament (best finish by NIU entry since 1971), and shared team Captain's Award as senior. Went 16-6-0 and finished second at NCAA West Regional (1991-92). Wound up 19-4-0 and won titles at NCAA West Regional and Tombstone Open (1990-91). Posted 24-15-1 mark with career-high six pins as frosh. Lettered in football and won five Northern Illinois starts at TB (1991). Won 10 letters in four sports at Thornwood High.
