Larger than life at 5-foot-11, 197 pounds. Known as "Harry The Horse" to Northern Illinois peers and devoted fans. Three-sport man who received NIU All-Century Team votes in football and basketball, plus lettered five times on gridiron (at two different institutions). Awarded "NI" varsity monograms in football (4), basketball, and baseball. Honored on All-Decade Team (1940s) during football Centennial observance (1999). Earned grid letters at fullback for Hall of Fame head coach George "Chick" Evans (1942, 1946-47, 1949). Performed on 8-2 Northern Illinois eleven that captured Little 19 Conference crown and appeared in program's first postseason game (Turkey Bowl in 1946). Selected on First-Team All-Little 19 grid all-star squad (1946). Gained Honorable Mention All-Illinois Intercollegiate Athletic Conference accolades despite missing games due to injury on 4-3-2 Refrigerator Bowl squad (1947). Chosen team co-MVP as senior (1949). Played on grid units that went combined 22-8-5. Served three-year hitch in U. S. Marines during World War II (1944-46), enrolled in V-12 training program at Western Michigan, and lettered in football at WMU (1943). Went to training camp with NFL Chicago Cardinals (1949). Named on All-Century Team at guard during cage Centennial (2000-01). Great nephews Mike Henigan (1960-63) and Terry Henigan (1962-65) played on 10-0 NIU Hall of Fame and National Champion College Division grid unit (1963). Taught and coached for 26 years in Genoa-Kingston school system (Deceased).
