Two-sport All-Century Team pick and team captain, plus four-decade educator. Described as "...the best all-around athlete produced by Northern Illinois" during his senior campaign by DeKalb Daily Chronicle (1927-28). Selected on All-Century unit (2001) in basketball and All-Century "Next 100" Decade team in football (1999). Earned 11 varsity Northern Illinois letters in three sports?football (1925-28), basketball (1924-28), and baseball (1926-28). Captained Huskies' 5-1-1 gridiron unit (1926) and 17-1 hardwood quintet (1926-27) under head coach Roland Cowell. Starred at end in football and as guard in basketball. "Concidine was the outstanding star on the team," according to the 1928 Northern Illinois yearbook's section on men's basketball, "and a versatile man at any position." Graduated from NIU with bachelor and master's degrees. Served Wabasha (MN) public school system as teacher, coach, and administrator (1931-71). Taught industrial arts, history, and social studies in addition to coaching duties. Became school principal and district superintendent. Served as WHS head football coach for 20 autumns and produced 69-32-12 won-lost-tied career record (.664 winning pct.), plus went 182-145 overall (.557 pct.) and won five sub-district titles (1932, 1938, 1941, 1943, and 1946) in 17 winters as head basketball coach. Reknown for 26-game unbeaten string (1939-42) and as innovator (advocate of the "double pass" in football). Baseball diamond at new Wabasha-Kellogg School was named in his honor (Deceased).
