Dominating All-Pro, All-America, and All-Century talent on O-line. First three-time Northern Illinois major-college grid All-America (Honorable Mention AP in 1984 and 1985, plus Third-Team AP in 1986). Voted on NIU All-Century squad (1999). Tied TB LeShon Johnson as top vote-getter (355 points) and named Best Blocker on All-Time Huskie Stadium Team (1995). Three-time All-Mid-American Conference pick (Second-Team in 1983 as frosh, First-Team in 1984 and 1985). Won four letters and 42 starts in 45 appearances (1983-86). Executed Block of California Bowl III for QB Tim Tyrrell on fourth and one sneak at NIU 20-yard line with 5:25 left vs. Cal State Fullerton (1983). Established national "rep" vs. Miami (FL) DT Jerome Brown and Iowa DT Jeff Drost (1986). Selected Northern Illinois co-captain and MVP as senior. Played FB in "Peatbone" offense vs. Ohio (1986). Two-time NIU Hall of Famer (1983 football team). Drafted by St. Louis Cardinals in 11th round and made consensus (Pro Football Writers Association, UPI, Pro Football Weekly, and Football Digest) NFL All-Rookie unit (1987). Recipient of NFL's Ed Block Courage Award for overcoming weight disorder in order to continue career (1993). Played as free agent with Los Angeles Raiders (1990-93) and Houston Oilers (1994). Started on World Bowl champion Frankfurt Galaxy in World League of American Football (1995). Returned to Northern Illinois and finished work on bachelor's degree (1995). Named Special Mention All-State at Champaign Central High School (1981).
