Cindy Conner ranks 10th all-time in scoring for the Huskie women's basketball program, having scored 1,520 points while helping lead NIU during one of its most successful periods in program history. Conner also ranks fourth all-time in NIU history in blocked shots (143) and is eighth in school history in field goals made (606). She is also in the top-15 in Huskie history in rebounds with 693 (12th) and steals with 189 (14th).

During the 1990-91 season, Conner's first on the court for the Huskies, she averaged 12.5 points and 7.2 rebounds per game en route to being named the North Star Conference Newcomer of the Year. Conner also earned Second Team All-North Star Conference honors while tying for the league lead with 1.4 blocks per game. Conner recorded six double-doubles that season and grabbed an incredible 18 rebounds in a National Women's Invitational Tournament game against Houston.

As a junior in 1991-92, Conner reached the 1,000 career point mark in the second round of the NCAA Tournament against Purdue, after helping the Huskies defeat Louisiana Tech in the opening round. Conner was named to the All-North Star Conference First Team while averaging 18.4 points and 7.1 rebounds per game. Conner scored in double figures in all 32 games that season, helping NIU to an 18-14 overall record and the North Star Conference Tournament Championship.

In her final season as a Huskie, Conner earned honorable mention All-American honors from the United State Basketball Writers Association while helping NIU with the Mid-Continent Conference regular season and tournament championships with a 24-6 record. Conner averaged 16.8 points and 7.4 rebounds per game as a senior and posted another 18-rebound game, this time against Valparaiso. Conner and the Huskies reached the NCAA Tournament for the second-straight season, playing Georgetown in the first round. Conner was named to the All-North Star Conference First Team for the second-straight season.
