Honored as Northern Illinois All-Century Team selection in football and basketball. Awarded 11 total NIU varsity monograms in football (4), basketball (3), and baseball (4). Played on Little 19 Conference championship teams in two sports. Described by athletics patriarch, athletics director, and head football coach George "Chick" Evans as "...the greatest punter I ever saw. He only had one blocked in four years of college football." Recorded second-longest punt in Northern Illinois history?a 90-yarder that rolled to the opposition five-yard line and resulted in a safety during a 2-0 victory vs. Illinois State in Normal (November 12, 1938) that clinched program's first Little 19 Conference football crown with 4-0-0 record (6-1-1 overall). Selected on First-Team All-Little 19 Conference and First-Team United Press All-State units as sophomore (1938). Repeated First-Team All-Little 19 honors on gridiron as senior (1940). Booted 80-yard punt vs. Central Michigan (1940). Named on 1930s All-Decade Team during NIU Centennial (2000-01). Played semi-professional football in Western New York League during World War II. Started at guard and named co-captain on 15-3 Little 19 Conference basketball kingpins under Hall of Fame head coach Ralph McKinzie. Selected on Northern Illinois All-Century Team on hardwood (2000-01). Served as head coach and athletics director at Rockford (IL) Harlem High School and as AD at Shabonna High School. DeKalb High School product.
