National PGA teacher/executive. Enshrined into three HOFs?(1) NIU Athletics, (2) NIU Golf, and (3) Illinois Golf (1999). Former Northern Illinois captain and league medalist. Earned four "NI" letters in golf (1956-60). Co-captained Huskie squad that annexed IIAC team crown and finished 11-6 in duals as senior (1960). Played on NCAA College Division Mideast Regional titlists as junior (1959). Produced four Top Five IIAC finishes. Captured IIAC medalist honors with par 70-70 ? 140 card as soph (1958). Finished fourth in IIAC meet as frosh (1957), as junior (79-74 ? 153 in 1959), and as senior (72-75 ? 147 in 1960). Won Greenbriar College Invitational medalist honors (1957). Started career as caddie at Onwentsia Club in Lake Forest (1952). Promoted from front door boy to operations director/head pro in 46 years at Old Elm Club in Fort Sheridan. Joined PGA (1962) and became PGA Master Professional (1994). Campaigned statewide and nationally, plus lobbied Kemper family and management group to host PGA Championship (1983-85). Recruited 2,200 volunteers and held Illinois PGA liaison post for PGA Championship at Kemper Lakes Golf Club (August, 1989). Served on PGA National Rules Committee and Illinois PGA Board of Directors (1972-87). Elected Illinois PGA president (1980-81) and National PGA executive director (1983-85). Voted Illinois PGA Professional of Year (1980). Charter member of PGA First Tee Program and three-time Horton Smith Award recipient. Coached at Warren Twp. High (1960-67). Two-time NIU grad. North Chicago High product.
