The shooter's shooter. Tabbed on Northern Illinois All-Century (tied as No. 3 vote-getter in 1999) and All-Time Evans Field House (1997) units. Inducted into IBCA Hall of Fame (1987). Set NCAA College Division Tournament game records for points (48) and field goals (20) vs. Hope College (March 14, 1958) in Great Lakes Regional. Graduated with seven school marks(1) game points (52) and (2) baskets (23) vs. Eastern Michigan (February 15, 1958), (3) season points (570 in 1957-58), (4) season scoring average (25.9 ppg. in 1957-58), (5) season baskets (231 in 1957-58), (6) Evans Field House game points (36, vs. Wisconsin-Platteville, December 7, 1957), and (7) career scoring average (22.2 ppg. in 1957-59). Still owns top two single-game scoring games in Huskie history. Won IIAC scoring title (25.6 ppg. in 12 loop games) by 79 points and finished No. 5 in NCAA College Division scoring (25.9 ppg. in 1957-58). Ranked No. 1 in NCAA College Division game field goals (23) and No. 3 in game points (52) as junior. Set IIAC game point (52) mark. Led Huskies in scoring as junior and senior (18.5 ppg.) despite off-season shooting hand surgery in final year. Two-time Second-Team All-IIAC. Named team captain as senior. Averaged 16.3 ppg. on NIU J-V (1956-57). Posted 16 career games in 20s and seven in 30s. Played NIU baseball (1956-57). Went 2-2 with 2.25 ERA as pitcher as soph. Transferred from Marquette. Averaged 17.3 ppg. at Downers Grove North High on West Suburban Conference, Regional champs (1954-55).
