Renown as "The Cowboy." Combined quick acceleration, :04.35 speed, slashing cutback ability, and brute strength to become one of the most productive major-college rushers in the game and most decorated TB in school history. Led NCAA Division 1-A with Big West and NIU-record 1,976 yards on 327 carries and added NCAA all-purpose (2,028 yards) title as senior. Averaged 179.6 ypg. and outrushed 65 of the nation's 106 1-A programs (1993). Produced (then) No. 4 single-season ground yardage total in NCAA history behind Heisman Trophy winners Barry Sanders (Oklahoma State), Marcus Allen (USC), and Mike Rozier (Nebraska). Finished career No. 4 in all-time NCAA rushing (150.6 ypg.) behind Ed Marinaro (Cornell), O. J. Simpson (USC), and Herschel Walker (Georgia). Named First-Team All-Big West, BWC Offensive Player of Year, unanimous First-Team All-America (13 teams), and UPI National Back of Year (1993). Finalist for Doak Walker National Runningback Award and Football News Offensive Player of Year, plus wound up sixth in Heisman Trophy voting. Posted 15 100-yard games in 22 career appearances?including (then) school-record 322 yards vs. Southern Illinois and 306 vs. Iowa (1993). Finished No. 8 in NCAA rushing (1,338 yards) and made Honorable Mention All-America as junior. Voted on school's All-Time Huskie Stadium (1995) and All-Century (1999) units. Played in Senior Bowl (1994) and for NFL Green Bay Packers (1994-95), Arizona Cardinals (1995-97), and New York Giants (1999), plus XFL Chicago Enforcers (2001). Haskell (OK) native.
