Precocious. Durable. Productive. Became (1) first Northern Illinois frosh back to run for 1,000 yards in season, (2) sixth freshman to do so in NCAA Division I-A history (1977), and (3) eighth quickest NCAA soph to reach 2,000 yards (1978). Ranked among all-time MAC leaders in career rushing yards (3,500), all-purpose yardage (4,065), and single-game rushing yards (254). Graduated with 10 school records. Voted on All-TIme Huskie Stadium (1995) and Centennial All-Decade (1999) units. Rates on all-time NIU lists in single-game rushing attempts (44), career rushing attempts (867), career all-purpose yardage (4,065), and career TDs (30). Finished second in MAC rushing and No. 23 in NCAA as soph. Wound up fifth in Mid-Am rushing and No. 41 in NCAA as frosh. Set single-season MAC games only rushing record (758 yards in seven games in 1978). Only player in modern Northern Illinois history to lead team in rushing for four straight years (1,043 yards in 1977, 1,033 in 1978, 751 in 1979, and 673 in 1980) and second Huskie to post back-to-back 1,000-yard rushing seasons (behind Hall of Famer Mark Kellar). Jumped into national spotlight with (then) school-record 254 yards on 36 carries vs. Ohio (November 19, 1977) and received Mid-Am Player of Week, AP National Back of Week, and UPI National Backfield of Week honors as frosh. Posted 14 career 100-yard rushing games and two 200-yard outings. Voted Second-Team All-MAC (1977, 1979, 1980). Free agent with NFL Chicago Bears (1981). Two-sport star at Oak Lawn Richards High.
