The 5-11, 170-pound outfielder/first baseman was one of the main cogs of the 1974-75 baseball teams, ending his 75-game career ranking only behind the late Hall of Famer Tom Wittum (1969-72) in all-time batting average (.371) and slugging percentage (.617) at NIU.

In 1974, he was selected as an All-Mid-American Conference second team performer after leading the Huskies in batting average (.363), hits (45), runs scored (25), home runs (5), and RBI (29).

In 1975, he was an All-MAC first team selection and also was named to the ABCA Mideast All-Region team after winning the MAC Triple Crown by leading the league in hitting (.379), home runs (10), and RBI (39), while also leading the Huskies in hits (44). His Triple Crown was the first ever in the MAC and only four players have accomplished the feat since. His 10-homer season still stands as the 10th best single-season total in school history.
