Ranked in Top 50 active and all-time NCAA women's basketball coaches by W-L pct. and victories. Winningest head coach (men or women) in NIU cage history with 188-110 mark (.631 pct.) for 10 seasons (1984-94). Elevated program to national level and generated unprecedented community support. Set Chick Evans Field House attendance records and upggraded schedules with such powers as Iowa, Tennessee, North Carolina State, Southern Cal, South Carolina, etc. Produced Top 20 ratings (as high as No. 17 by AP in 1989-90), three regular-season league titles (North Star in 1989-90, Mid-Continent in 1992-93 and 1993-94), three post-season tourney crowns (NSC in 1990 and 1992, plus Mid-Con in 1993), five 20-win campaigns (23-7 in 1988-89, 26-5 in 1989-90, 25-10 in 1990-91, 24-6 in 1992-93, and 24-6 in 1993-94), and five post-season appearances (NCAA in 1989-90, 1991-92, 1992-93, and 1993-94, plus NWIT in 1990-91). Tutored one World Games participant (E. C. Hill in 1993), two Olympic Sports Festival players (Carol Owens in 1986 and Hill in 1991), one WNBA performer (Hill), six All-America picks (Cindy Conner, Lisa Foss, Tammy Hinchee, Gena Stubbs, Hill, and Owens), four District All-Americas, and many NIU Hall of Famers. Coached or recruited 14 of NIU's 21, 1,000-point career scorers. Named loop Coach of Year three times (NSC in 1989 and 1990, plus Mid-Con in 1993) and WBCA District Four Coach of Year (1990). Head coach at Wisconsin, Wichita State, and Nevada. Appalachian State grad.
