nspirational, record-breaking, and elusive 5-foot-11, 180-pound receiver in fabled Northern Illinois "(QB Tom) Beck-to-Eck" passing combo during Howard Fletcher era. Repeat Second-Team NAIA Little All-America (1959, 1960). Tied NCAA College Division and NIU single-season touchdown reception records, plus led nation with 11 TD catches (1959). Ranked among NCAA College Division reception leaders three straight years?11th as soph (32 catches for 486 yards and three TDs in 1958), ninth as junior (34 grabs for 586 yards and 11 TDs in 1959), and eighth as senior (then NIU-record 45 for 740 yards and five TDs in 1960). Named First-Team All-IIAC twice (1959, 1960). Graduated with (then) NIU marks in career catches (111), yardage (1,812), and TD grabs (19) at SE, plus career interceptions (15) and pass theft yardage (221) at DB. Led Huskies in receiving (1958-60), scoring (1959), KO returns (1959), punt returns (1958-60), interceptions (1958-60), and all-purpose yardage (1958-60). Honored on All-Century Team during Northern Illinois football Centennial (1999). Two-sport man with "NI" letters in football (3) and track (2). Ran sprints and relays for HOF coach Carl Appell (1959-60). Two-time NIU graduate (1961 & 1965). Transferred from Miami (FL). Inducted into Palatine High School (2001) and IHSFCA (2003) HOFs. Won All-State honors in football, captured league titles in 100, 220, and 440-yard dashes in track, and played guard in basketball at PHS (1951-55). Coached at LaMoille, Palatine, Maine East, and Maine West high schools (Deceased).
