Nicknamed "The Marshal." All-America and Academic All-America pick as 6-9, 225-pounder for HOF mentor John McDougal. Initial Northern Illinois hoops First-Team CoSIDA Academic All-America and NCAA Postgraduate Scholarship recipient (1983-84). Drafted two rounds behind Michael Jordan by NBA Chicago Bulls (third-round pick in 1984). Voted on NIU All-Decade (1990), All-Time Evans Field House (1996-97), and All-Century (2000-01) units. Named two-time HM AP All-America (1982-84), HM Sporting News All-America (1983-84), First-Team NABC All-District Four (1983-84), and repeat First-Team All-MAC (1982-84). Won MAC scoring title and ranked 31st in NCAA (21.1 ppg.) as senior. School's first All-MAC and All-MAC Academic cage "double." Three-time All-MAC Academic (1981-84). First-Team CoSIDA District Four All-Academic (1983-84). Tabbed MAC POW four times. Two-time NIU co-captain and MVP (1982-84). Named All-James Madison Tournament (1983-84). Averaged 10.3 ppg. and 5.8 rbpg. on school's first NCAA D-I tourney team as soph (1981-82). Lettered on NIU's first MAC regular-season champ as frosh (1980-81). Played in Collegiate Senior All-Star Game and Hall of Fame Collegiate Basketball Classic (1984). Top scorer and First-Team All-Portsmouth (VA) Invitational (1984). Played in Italy, Spain, and Australia (1984-86, 1988-89), Athletes in Action (1987), NBA Phoenix Suns (summer, 1987), CBA Rockford Lightning (1990-92), and in Paris McDonald's Open (1991). Inducted into IBCA HOF (1990). Interested NFL scouts as TE. All-America, All-State on 25-5 Franklin Center High unit (1979-80).
