Modern-age pioneer in Northern Illinois' formative days in women's extramural competition. Competed in five sports badminton, basketball, field hockey, softball, and volleyball. Completed four-year stint at forward on hardwood for NIU Hall of Famer head coach Mary Bell with (then) career scoring record 389 points (28 games in 1964-68). Reset women's all-time cage scoring mark (284 points) held by Hall of Famer Jean Pankonin (1957-61) and Sue Blotch (1961-65). Scored single-game career-high 30 points vs. Big Ten rival Northwestern (1965-66). Starred at center-half in field hockey as soph and junior. Capped latter season (8-1-1 won-lost-tied record) with First-Team All-Midwest honors from U. S. Field Hockey Association Selection Tournament system (1966). Served as president of Midwest College Field Hockey Association (1966-67). Three-year regular as pitcher and shortstop in NIU softball program. Boasted .357 career batting average including team-leading .429 mark as junior (1967). Competed in volleyball as frosh and in badminton as junior. Began teaching/coaching career (basketball, tennis, and volleyball) at nearby Sandwich High before moving to Arizona. Directed Scottsdale High girls' basketball squad to (1) 10-3 record and league title (1976-77), (2) 18-7 mark and semi-final finish in inaugural Arizona Interscholastic Association (AIA) Class AAA state tournament (1977-78), and (3) 18-3 standard and Metro League Class AAA titles (1980-81). Voted Metro League AAA Coach of Year (1980-81). GAA participant at DeKalb High (1960-64).
