Arguably greatest No. 87 in Northern Illinois grid annals. Acrobatic, tall (6-4), sure-handed WR peer of Jim Seymour (Notre Dame), Ron Sellers (Florida State), Jerry Levias (SMU), Ed Hinton (Oklahoma), and Gene Washington (Washington). Highest NFL draft choice in Huskie history (third-round or 64th pick by Green Bay Packers in 1969). Played in Chicago Tribune College All-Star Game under coach Otto Graham vs. Joe Namath and Super Bowl champ New York Jets at Soldier Field (1969). Named on All-Time Huskie Stadium Team (1995). Voted on All-Century Team and Century's Five Best Players (1999). Tabbed for All-American Bowl, but sidelined by broken leg. Caught two TD passes on same bad leg in final game vs. No. 16 Ohio (1968). Returned opening KO for 97-yard TD in 7-6 win vs. Bowling Green and school's first victory vs. 1-A team for coach Howard Fletcher (1968). Went 90 yards on KO return vs. North Dakota State (1968). Caught 46 passes for three straight years. Career Stats: 138 catches for 1,815 yards and NIU-record 22 TDs (1966-68). Tabbed team co-captain and co-MVP as senior. Led Northern Illinois in receving (46 grabs for 620 yards and five TDs in 1967 and 46 for 629 yards and 10 TDs in 1968), scoring (30 points in 1967 and 72 points in 1968), all-purpose yards (1,319 in 1968), and KO returns (24 for 690 yards and two TDs in 1968).
