The only Huskie ever to lead NIU in passing and tackles in two separate seasons, Bob Gregolunas quarterbacked NIU to a winning season in 1973 before switching over to linebacker for his senior season in 1975.

During the 1973 season, Gregolunas completed 47 percent of his passing attempts as the Huskies posted a 6-5 mark, just their second winning season in seven years.

Upon moving to the defensive side of the ball, Gregolunas led NIU in tackles and became the first player in program history to be named to the All-MAC First Team. The first-year defensive star made 127 tackles from his linebacker spot, including 70 solo stops, with 13 tackles for loss. Gregolunas posted eight games with double-digit tackles, including 22 in a victory over Western Michigan

Gregolunas was a team captain and team defensive MVP in 1975 before being selected in the sixth round of the 1976 NFL Draft, 167th overall, by the Kansas City Chiefs. Gregolunas was named to the All-Time Huskie Stadium Team in 1995 and was named one of the 50 Greatest Players in Huskie Stadium history in 2015.
